Why might a company that’s publicly traded in the US be missing fundamentals?

There are several reasons a company that is publicly traded in the US may not be covered in our fundamentals data.

In general, companies that have this issue fall into one of three categories:

1. Non-US Companies (they file 20-Fs and 40-Fs instead of 10-Qs and 10-Ks respectively)

2. Companies that recently had their initial public offering (IPO) because they haven’t hit the end of their first fiscal quarter

3. Companies that our processor wasn’t able to reconcile due to XBRL, or other technical issues

Number 1 is not an error. Our current capability is to process 10-Qs and 10-Ks for US-based companies. We do often have their US securities, so stock prices may be available.

Number 2 takes time, as companies have up to 45 days after the end of the fiscal quarter to file 10-Qs with the SEC and up to 90 days to file 10-Ks. This rule only applies to publicly traded companies.

Number 3 is a good time to send us a ticket or email us at support@intrinio.com. If we don’t have a filing and the company is US-based and traded publicly, we will be happy to fix that issue to best of our ability.
